Ten sites with no early contact at all

On 75 of the 85 sites, 88.2 percent, at least one company was contacted before a consent choice could be made. Ten sites had none, That 88.2 percent share ranks 73rd of the 88 companies in this index, which is low down the field, and it is the distinguishing figure on this page. It does not mean these sites are careful; several of them are simply slow, and a page that takes seven seconds to reach anything has not restrained itself so much as stalled.

The slow tail runs a long way out

The median site here made its first third-party request at 631 milliseconds, ranking 56th of 88, and the quickest observed was 115 milliseconds. The individual results stretch far past that. abovedomains.com reached eleven companies with first contact only at 9,610 milliseconds and none of them inside the window. adriver.ru reached five, first contact 7,686 milliseconds, none early. vungle.com reached fourteen at 2,116 milliseconds, again with none inside the window, and un.org took 1,895 milliseconds to reach the first of its three companies, though all three then landed inside the window. A long delay before the first request is what produces a low early-contact share here.

Quiet pages, few banners

The median site where BootstrapCDN appears reached six separate companies, ranking 82nd of 88 in this index, made 26 requests, ranking 78th, and carried one host classified as tracking. The median count of companies reached inside the early window is five and the median count first seen after it closes is zero. A recognisable consent tool was detected on 23 of the 85 sites, 27.1 percent: an IAB TCF consent tool alongside twelve of them, OneTrust five, Osano and Cookiebot two each, CookieYes and Iubenda one each. Those overlap rather than divide, since a site can present more than one.

What it arrives with

Google was present on 72.9 percent of these sites and Cloudflare on 30.6 percent, then the jQuery CDN and jsDelivr on 16.5 percent each, Cloudflare Analytics on 15.3 percent, Google Fonts and APIs on 12.9 percent, Font Awesome on 9.4 percent and Meta on 8.2 percent. That is a portrait of a particular vintage of web development: a framework stylesheet, a jQuery build and an icon font, all pulled from public CDNs rather than bundled and served from the site's own domain.
