Effective 2 August 2026 · applies to the MurmAds browser extension.
The short version: MurmAds reads the public Meta Ad Library page you are looking at, computes research signals from it on your machine, and keeps everything you save in your own browser. We run no servers of our own and there is no MurmAds account; the optional Pro licence is handled by ExtensionPay, described below. No analytics beacons, and we never sell or transfer data to anyone.
facebook.com/ads/library and
web.facebook.com/ads/library — Meta's public ad archive.chrome.storage.local. They never leave your device.MurmAds Pro is sold and licensed through ExtensionPay, with Stripe as the payment processor. If you buy Pro, you give your email address to ExtensionPay on ExtensionPay's own checkout page, and your card details go to Stripe. Both handle that data under their own privacy policies (ExtensionPay's). MurmAds itself never sees or stores your email or your payment details — the extension only reads back whether this browser has an active licence, and stores the anonymous licence key ExtensionPay issues for it. On the free tier you never provide an email at all.
| Permission | Why it exists |
|---|---|
storage | Keeps your boards, saved ads and settings on your device. |
activeTab + scripting | When you click the toolbar icon on an ad-library tab that was open before install, the panel can load without a page refresh. Runs only on your click. |
| Ad-library host access | Lets the overlay render on facebook.com/ads/library pages — its only surface. |
extensionpay.com | Optional Pro license checks and checkout. |
Everything lives in your browser: remove the extension and its stored data is deleted by Chrome. You can also clear individual saves from the Board tab at any time.
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it and material changes will be noted in the extension's changelog. Questions: murmtools.com.
